Gudnak Becomes First Card Game Company to Hire A Cappella Singers
In a move that literally no one in the tabletop gaming industry saw coming — because why would they — Chaotic Great Games has become the first card game company in recorded history to hire professional a cappella singers.
"We looked at what other game companies were doing for marketing and thought: what if we did something completely unhinged instead?" said Tim O’Brien, co-creator of Gudnak. "So we hired a cappella singers. Because nothing says ‘tactical card game set in a dying world' quite like five people harmonizing about it."
The singers performed at multiple events, delivering renditions of original Gudnak-themed songs that left audiences somewhere between deeply moved and profoundly confused — which, coincidentally, is the exact emotional state we aim for with all of our marketing.
When asked if this was a good use of the company’s limited marketing budget, Ian Oliver replied: "Absolutely not. But it was a great use of our unlimited enthusiasm."
The a cappella group has since been offered a permanent position at Chaotic Great Games. They declined, citing "creative differences" and "a desire to maintain their dignity." We respect that.
